Year of the Wood Goat or Ram

Year of the Ram
Feb 19th, 2015 to Feb 7th, 2016
(Green Wood Ram, Gui Wei)

greenramyear

The Ram Year brings peace to frazzled hearts and comfort to weary minds and bodies. We have come through a time of adventure and certain chaos to the oasis beside a gentle stream. This is the Year to really savor your home, your hearth, your personal vista – to make it truly, your very own castle. Humble or grand, home is where the Ram’s heart lies. A wonderful year to express yourself through the culinary arts, handiwork and homey creations, your garden and your own inner world as well. The Ram or Goat also brings a wonderful restful sense of peace and harmony – a balm for the bruises and bumps accumulated last year, the Year of the Horse.

This is a year to rekindle or develop warm supportive relationships with like-minded people, our families and other loved ones. This is not a time to force things, but instead, to go with the flow of the gentle Ram. This is also a time to get in touch with the real You, through contemplation, meditation, nature walks and other quiet self-development activities. An excellent activity to indulge in is art of any kind – bursts of creativity and imagination are common in this Year of the Goat. The Ram is not known for her discipline or orderliness – if you feel disoriented and lazy, grab a paint brush or sculpture tools and allow your genius to flow through by creating your own personal masterpiece. This is a time to allow the Muse to alight and inspire You whether through visual art, music, poetry, dance, or sheer appreciation of nature’s beauty.

This is also a time when prevention of war and conflict is possible if people can just tune into the strong current of tolerance and the need for peace brought by the nimble Goat. If all the billions of dollars spent on war, military training, and espionage were instead funneled into comfort for all, creative activities and cleaning up the planet, the Goat would jump for joy! For that is her mission – to bring tranquility, rest and relaxation where there is turmoil, strife and restlessness. There is a tendency to overspend in the Year of the Ram, so do keep control of your pocketbook and bank statements. Get lots of rest, and take time to reflect and recoup to avoid irritation and petty discontent. Make new friends, share your soul, and expect wonderful things to come your way. Nurture yourself and those you love, let your kindness and altruism shine through to touch all around You.

Year of the Wooden Horse

Today brings the Year of the Green Wooden Horse!

January 30th, 2014 to February 18th, 201

(Green Horse, Jiawu , Chinese Year 4712)

horseyear

The Horse Year brings a lively high-spirited energy to the world around You. It demands that you quicken your energy and keep up with the pace, or be left behind. Much like the free-spirited wild stallion, the Horse Year offers lots of action, adventure and volatile emotions. This is not the Year to plod along, but rather to make quick spontaneous decisions, moving into action mode right from the start. Get used to deciding on your feet, and being open to new and unusual choices.

The key words this Year are romance, adventure and daring action. Changes will be around every corner – you will need your wits about you to deal with these as well as capitalize on them. Follow your inner voice coupled with good sound common sense. If you can do this, you will profit from this intensely yang, male-energy time.

Often the Horse is associated with times of war and political tension. National leaders would do well to count to ten before making any major decisions – and to do so with an air of goodwill, considering the welfare of all involved. It is an important year to examine our motives for both our decisions and our behaviors. The Horse can be a wonderfully enlightened, free and honorable creature – or it can be used as a vehicle for destruction, oppressive labor and wanton recklessness. It is up to each of us to choose how we will display our own energy mixed with the expansive and powerful Horse energy.

The ultimate purpose of the Wooden Horse energy is to spur us to reach high – to attune with the purest form of our own expression and being. It signals us to accept nothing less than liberty and freedom (for all) and to help the human race evolve to a masterful and altruistic level. The Horse is traditionally a Fire Animal – mixed with the Wood elements, it brings intense heat and combustibility. You will want to travel, to spend, to experience and be more independent. We will all want to shake off the shackles of whatever oppresses and holds us down in our lives. It is important to avoid the narcissitic qualities that sprout up and to maintain faithfulness in relationships. People will be too quick to give up and move on. Make sure you think before you leap, especially in matters of finance, career and romance.
